Manufacturing Advisory Service sponsor Irwin Mitchell is to explore how smart technology will be used to create intelligent manufacturing within the automotive industry.
The law firm is expanding on its Industry 4.0 research project by holding a special event at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, Ansty Park on September 12.
The event will feature presentations from Irwin Mitchell automotive sector lead partner Sarah Riding, Cara Haffey, partner and UK Industrial Manufacturing lead for PwC and Peter Corby, Relationship Manager at the MTC.
With Industry 4.0 promising increased productivity, lower costs and enhanced customer satisfaction, manufacturers are increasingly being encouraged to adopt the principles of digitalisation to ensure they remain competitive.
The event will assess the implications for the industry of sophisticated sensor technology, greater connectivity and Big Data analysis.
It will also narrow down some of the challenges and opportunities Industry 4.0 presents to the automotive sector, both for the OEMs and the SME supply chain.
The research project is closely aligned to the goals of the Made in the Midlands Industry 4.0 Advisory Board, which is devising a roadmap for its members to follow to ensure they are on course to embrace the new technology.
Sarah Riding leads the Commercial team in Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office, advising on a range of deal-driven commercial arrangements including supply chain management, routes to market, strategic alliances, brand exploitation and sourcing arrangements. She also leads on the automotive sector and has acted for many automotive clients ranging from OEMs, suppliers and industry bodies, as well as advising leading players with in the motorsport industry.
