ABEL’s Electrical Apprentice, Matthew Tunnard, has successfully completed his Apprenticeship and is now a qualified Electrical Technician.

Matthew joined ABEL as a Trainee Electrician in November 2015 having spent two years playing football for Doncaster Rovers. Over the last three years he’s served his Apprenticeship, attending Doncaster College one day a week studying for his NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance and his Tech Certificate Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Level 3.

He said: “I’ve really enjoyed going to College and learning more. The NVQ in particular was interesting as I was able to link the theory from the various modules back to the work I was doing at ABEL. I got to see first-hand how the theory of PLCs, motors, 3-phase electrics and mathematical engineering was brought to life on jobs in the workshop and out on client’s sites.”

ABEL’s Managing Director, Nigel Russell, said: “We are incredibly proud of Matthew for successfully gaining his qualifications. He’s worked very hard to complete his studies on time and to such a good standard. Our work requires a team of highly skilled engineers and we are delighted he is able to add his skills and knowledge into the team.”
