Atlas Machine Knives Ltd was founded in 1981 initially specialising in providing the converting industries with a reliable and comprehensive machine knife sales and sharpening service. We now provide our services and replacement knives to all types of industries across the UK and beyond.
In 2004 the ownership of the company changed hands, and Gary France became the owner and Director. Gary implemented a 5 year growth plan with the aim of expanding the business to serve a wider customer base, and to put quality and customer service at the forefront of everything we do.
With Gary’s years of experience in the engineering sector, the company has grown and now provides services and replacement knives to all types of different industries across the UK and beyond.
As part of this growth in 2006 we moved to a new 550 m² workshop in Elland, West Yorkshire and invested in a number of modern CNC controlled machines to increase our sharpening capability. During 2008 our team of highly skilled fully qualified engineers was also expanded, further increasing our knowledge and experience of all aspects of machine knives and sharpening.
In 2013 Gary stepped down as director and wanting to keep the company a family affair, his son Matthew France took over as Director. Matthew aims to grow the company further, and to put even more emphasis on our high quality, customer focused service.
Sharpening
We can sharpen (regrind) just about any type of machine knife. From tiny circular crush cutters to large 4 metre long guillotines. We have one of the largest surface grinders in the UK as well as a number of other CNC machines that can sharpen just about any machine knife used today. If it has a cutting edge, we can sharpen it.
Our sharpening services are tailored to meet your needs. They range from one off annual guillotine sharpening to working with multinational companies where we provide a weekly sharpening service for their complete range of machine knives. No job is too small or too large and we offer a competitive pricing structure.
Sales
We can supply all types of new machine knives, usually from our comprehensive stock. All our knives meet, or exceed, OEM specifications and can be produced in a range of materials to meet your cutting needs. We can produce knives from drawings/sketches or samples, and we always aim to beat the prices you are paying now.
Whether your requirement is for top knives, bottom knives, multi edge blocks, circular knives, straight knives, dished knives, crush cutters, split knives, guillotine blades, granulator knives, palletizer knives, retarder blades, saw blades, doctor blades, corrugating knives, slitting knives, sheeter knives or any other type of machine knives we can supply them all. We also supply a wide range of cutting consumables and pneumatic knife holders.
